Paris & Rome
Old & New Curves
We managed to get away recently for a short trip to Europe.
Some highlights-
The latest offering by legendary American architect, Frank Gehry in Paris, a new glass clad gallery in the Louis Vuitton Gardens.
On the right, the magnificent Colosseum in Rome, freshly cleaned and now back lit in the evening and the incomparable Pantheon with its famous open air oculus.
Both are covered in the on line course on Roman Architecture at Yale University which is highly recommended.
Surrey
In England, we were thrilled to spend a week at Goddards, a well known Arts & Crafts house in Surrey, near Guildford.
It was very special to soak up the somewhat quirky design by Sir Edward Lutyens as the guests of our Australian friends.
Cambridge
As a guest at Emmanuel College, Cambridge it was great to see one of the few Wren buildings there, a delightful chapel, executed shortly after St Pauls Cathedral, 1697. (right)
Oxford - a feast of architectural treasures
Frankfurt - 60 storey bank with a crown referencing the royal heritage of the city, designed by New York architects.
Back in Oz. The Upper Murray, Corryong.
The Waters family settled here in 1854.

Windows of Avignon, a beautiful place. Go there on the TGV.
Ancestral home, Market Bosworth, Leicester.
Incredible Pope's castle, Avignon, France, dating back to the 14thC when the Papacy moved out of Rome due to political trouble.
Sandringham Castle, Norfolk. Nice little country retreat, another royal home you can visit, including the 20,000 acre grounds.
Villefranche sur Mer, a gorgeous place in the Cote d'aZur, south of France. A short bus trip from Monaco, formally a quiet fishing village. Made famous as the refuge of the Rolling Stones when they recorded Exile on Main St, 1970.
